Solderless JP1 Box

When I started getting ready to make my box, I knew VERY little about electronics. I found that I had to do a significant amount of research to find out how to use the diodes, capacitors etc. So I decided to explain the pieces of electrical equipment that are not obvious. If you buy from Radio Shack, most of the components have some explanation on the back of the box. You can skip ahead to the assembly bit by clicking here

7805 +5V regulator

I put this picture in because while the schematic clearly shows how to wire the 5V regulator, It doesn't explain what the pins are on the actual regulator. I believe this is also found on the back of the Radio Shack package.

22uF electrolytic capacitor

The 22µF capacitor must be oriented in the proper direction. On the 22µF capacitor from Radio Shack, there is a white band down one side with many "-" signs. That is the negative pole. That side also has a shorter wire. Be sure to orient it properly.

Diode

I've just included this diagram to show the directionality of the diodes in this project. On top is the figure used in the schematic to signify a diode. Below is the actual diode oriented accordingly. You use the grey band on the diode to orient it.

OK. Let's see how it's put together
